Feast of St. Rita
St. Rita is the saint of impossible causes and her feast day is celebrated on May 22nd.
Here’s how to bring hope to the dismalness around us at times and celebrate the feast of this wonderful saint:
1.Tell her story:
A simple yet profound story that you must share with your kids. From losing her husband and kids to making peace in a generation old family dispute to miracles that happened while she was alive is sure to give hope even through these dark times. I found this video covers the facts accurately.
2. Draw Roses:
St. Rita is said to have asked for a Rose from her garden as a dying wish. And they did find one blooming in the snow! This was to St. Rita a sign from God that her life on earth had merited her husband and sons to meet her in Heaven. They say you can smell roses even to this day where her body is kept.
We put them together and made a bouquet.
3. Hunt for thorns:
St. Rita had a stigmata on her forehead. Like a thorn from Jesus’ crown had been given to her since she asked to help Him in His suffering. Get out and hunt for thorns together. Notice how sharp they are. Collect some and measure them. Think of the pain of the crown of thorns Jesus had to wear. Ask your child, what he/she can do to help Jesus?
4. Rose Milk:
Milk and rose essence garnished with fresh rose petals is all we need to make this summer quencher. Drink it hot or cold.
You can see her incorrupt body and hear about her miracles while you sip your drink here:
